Set the Pace against Cervical Cancer
Run with ESGO
Promenade des Anglais, Nice
October 24, 2015, 07:15-08:15
Over 250 delegates* have already registered to the ESGO Awareness Run as of October 1, 2015.
The ESGO Awareness Run is supported by a grant from Intuitive Surgical.
HPV Vaccine, Screening and Cancer Prevention
Every year, 528,000 women are expected to be diagnosed with cervical cancer and every hour, 2 women in the EU are losing their lives as a result of cervical cancer.
But according to the latest EU Commission Report, less than 5% of the whole cancer control budget in the EU is allocated for prevention.
As Cervical Cancer is a preventable and totally curable disease, when it is diagnosed at early stages, ESGO believes that increasing public awareness on cervical cancer prevention will ultimately make a difference on cancer survival.
Taking a step forward, for the first time at this year's congress in Nice, ESGO organises the Awareness Run to raise awareness on early detection of cervical cancer and HPV vaccination programmes through a run activity to encourage a healthy life style, which directly affects the gynaecological cancer incidents.
Support ESGO's initiative and kick off the ESGO 2015 Congress with a five kilometre run along Nice's blue coastline, Promenade des Anglais on Saturday, October 24, 07:15-08:15.
Not a runner? Come to support your peers!
Donate for the cause! ESGO will welcome small donations to support awareness activities to help beat the Cervical Cancer.
